Richard Louis Bryant, 62, of Roanoke, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2008, in the evening. He was the son of the late Thomas R. Bryant and Christine B. Bryant. He was a resident of Roanoke and an active member of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church. Richard was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and held a Masters of Art in Liberal Studies from Hollins University. He founded and was President of International Design Group. Richard was a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather. A true lover of life and of all he met along his way, he was also an artist, a fisherman and a blessing to his family and friends. His passing leaves the world of art a little less colorful and the fish a little safer. Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 21 years, Chris H. Bryant; daughter and son-in-law, Emily B. Kahn and Ari Kahn, of Austin, Texas; son, Gregory M. Bryant, of Charleston, S.C.; beloved grandson, Alexander Kahn; sister and brother-in-law, Susan B. Whately and Charles Whately, of Roanoke; and loving and faithful dog, Louie. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tupper Garden officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church or the Coastal Conservation Association.
