Joanna L. Dunn was born on 24 Dec 1945 in Wytheville, VA, and she finished her mission of love here on earth and was called to Heaven to be with her Lord and best friend, Jesus Christ, on 27 Jul 2011.
She is survived by her husband Tom of Ridgecrest, CA and her brother Carl Cornett of Virginia and thousands of friends.
Joanna was an ambassador of Jesus Christ and she showed His love to everyone she met.
Even though her physical body was limited by the need for a wheelchair as the result of an accident while horseback riding as a young girl, her spirit of joy never knew such bounds. Her heart, soul and spirit knew no limitations.
Her Godly gift and her gentle spirit encouraged and helped thousands of people over her lifetime. 
She always had time for those in need and unselfishly gave of her time, her love and her resources to help other people.
Her counseling provided hope for the depressed, peace for the anxious and comfort for the suffering.
Her family counseling united marriages and encouraged Godly parenting.
Joanna attended schools in Roanoke, VA and graduated from Roanoke High School prior to attending the University of Illinois at Urbana, IL where she received a master's degree in sociology. 
A talented athlete, Joanna competed three years in the handicap Olympics in swimming, archery, and wheelchair races. 
In 1969, she was voted the Most Outstanding Athlete in the United States.
After college, she moved to Ridgecrest in 1971 and worked as a counselor at the Desert Counseling Center, Cerro Coso Community College and at the ob Corps in Glide, OR.
She was a gifted counselor, leader and teacher leading Bible Studies, home groups and seminars.
She was a model wife for Tom, her husband of 34 years, and followed him through many moves and adventures. 
She wrote two books that chronicled her life and love for God and other people.
A celebration of life was held at the Crossroads Community Church, Ridgecrest, CA.
