Gordon Robert “Ted” Garman, 78, of Roanoke, VA died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 17, 2022 following a long illness.

He was born on November 14, 1944 to the late Catherine “Kitty” Garman and Harry S. Garman, Jr.

Ted is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emilee Carter Garman; two daughters, Emilee “Emma” Garman, Natalie Garman Shellnutt; grandchildren, Mikah Secrist, Julian Shellnutt, Isabella “Bella” Shellnutt; brother, Harry S. Garman, III, all of Roanoke.

He graduated from Patrick Henry High School. Ted served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He was a member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church. Ted was employed with the Bell Telephone Company for 35 years and was a General Electric security guard for 20 years.

He enjoyed playing various sports including bowling, slow pitch softball and golf and he attended many NASCAR races.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Oakey’s South Chapel with Dr. Kevin Meadows officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in memory of Ted.
